- Born to hippie parents in Flagstaff, Arizona on the cusp of Cancer/Leo and the 70s/80s.
- Grew up in Durham, North Carolina, home of the Duke Blue Devils. Did not follow basketball.
- Went to three different colleges and changed majors twice before graduating from UNC-Asheville with degree in literature.
- Made my way to San Francisco. Completed MFA in creative writing at tiny, leftist school that no longer exists.
- Turned down a full-time editing job to teach as an adjunct professor.
- Couldn’t afford to live in SF on adjunct income. Moved back to Durham.
- Felt ambivalent about living in my hometown. Continued to teach as an adjunct. Tried to find another type of job. Couldn’t.
- Moved to DC, then Baltimore.
- Met my current partner and introduced our cats.
- Developed a mysterious illness.
- Lost mother to cancer.
- Got sicker. Stopped teaching. Stopped writing.
